We have talked a little about Proposition 8 and how it relates to our course this upcoming week. I wanted to give you some links presenting both sides of the issues on Prop 8. Feel free to post your thoughts about what is occurring.

It think what has happened in California is completely backward. To go from a state that allowed gay marriage to one that doesn't makes no sense. It is that type of backward thinking that will hold this country back from positive progression into the future. Those who voted for prop. 8 are stuck in the past.
I recently listened to an interview with a women who voted yes and she said, and I quote, "we don't want those San Fransisco attitudes to represent our state." I was sickened by this. Why does it matter to her? Or to anyone for that matter? To anyone who does not believe in gay marriage I ask you this, how does this directly effect you? And once you are unable to conjure up an answer, I will do it for you: it doesn't! To deny gay people marriage is wrong. Especially when the majority of straight people treat marriage like its a plaything. Statistics show that nearly 60% of STRAIGHT marriages end in divorce. How can anyone deny to loving people, gay or straight, the right to marriage, especially when the value of marriage is circling the drain.
